Maisonnette des morts

Sevelin, Lausanne | 12.04.2025

Maisonnette des morts is a living work of art about death, created with Francesco Biamonte and Antonio Albanese. It combines musical and poetic performance with visual installation.

As a work of art, Maisonnette des morts aims to convey how contemplating death (memento mori) can make each and every one of us more open to a happier existence. Without denying sadness and fear, Maisonnette des morts metabolises a long human tradition of contemplating death and offers a new vision of it, incorporating specific issues of our time (mass extinction). It consists of songs and poems from all eras. Death appears in its grotesque and comical, frightening, dark, biological, massive, and finally mystical dimensions. But without any religious dimension.

La Maisonnette des morts is constructed through successive performances (called ‘1st board’, ‘2nd board’, etc.), culminating in a form presented for two weeks in February 2026 in the Saint-François church in Lausanne.
